does anyone know where i can buy black leather dining chairs without any stitching detail on the back? They all seem to have ugly 'T' stitching on the back and i was hoping to find a set with plain stitching on the side and nothing on the back. have trawled as many furniture websites I can think off and am getting bored now.

What should I do to seal the black leather insert on an antique oak dining chair? I have an antique oak T back dining chair with a padded black leather insert in the seat. The leather is definitely worn and the padding is flattened, but it's not in terrible condition. The problem is that the black color of the leather keeps coming off, thus making the seat unusable (unless you want a black backside). Is there any way I can seal the leather so that I can sit on it again?

How can I remove grease and smoke buildup from a 50 year old wood dining table and chairs? My husband and I were given an antique wooden dining table with four chairs from his grandmother, a HEAVY smoker. She is 60+ and has smoked since she was 18 and has had the table since she was 20.. I tried using Murphy's oil soap and hot water, and I washed the table and chairs TWICE with a rag with a scrubber around it.. the water turned black every time. I rinsed with hot water, and the water still turned black. When I rinsed the furniture, there was a white film and yellow gunk coming off the chairs.. and they were STILL sticky and yucky.. how can I clean them without harming the wood? Please hurry, we'd actually love to be able to use them in our dining room, but can't stand sticking to a chair, and leaving fuzz from our clothes on a grimy chair.

What can I use to remove a black, unknown stain from unfinished wood? I recently bought a dining set of unfinished, softish wood- it might be pine, I'm not completely sure. One chair has a faded black stain on the seat. I'm not sure what made the stain, but is there any way to try to lighten the stain without damaging the wood? My Mom suggested bleach, but I'm worried it'll harm the wood. I'd eventually like to stain the chairs, but I don't want to seal in the stain. This website is a godsend! Interior design ideas? Working with modern furniture in small condo!? I'm moving into a new condo. Long story short, it's owned by my boyfriend's uncle.... so he's giving me all of the furniture that's in there. It's a very small one-bedroom. I wish I had a picture, but I don't. It's got white walls, white carpet, white ceilings, and black furniture. Black leather sofa, black tv stand, black dining room chairs, black stools, black oriental-inspired dresser, and a black bedframe with a semi-circle headboard. The coffee table is a rectangular piece of glass over a really awesome panther-sculpture. The panther's shoulders and hips hold up the table. The only splash of color is the cabinets in the kitchen that have been painted a bright turquoise. The condo is much more modern than my tastes, but I'm willing to work with it. The only problem is.... I'm not completely satisfied with the way it looks just yet. I hate having so much white and black in a small space. I like the contrast, but it's too overwhelming. Another issue is my furniture I'm bringing with me is mostly earth colors like brown and beige. Any ideas how I could make this work? Suggestions for painting the wall another color? Need advice on area rug/curtain color for apartment living/dining area?? We are moving into a new apartment soon and I am shopping for some new things for it. I have already purchased slipcovers in a flax color for my couch and chair and we are going to get a black coffee table and black end tables and black tv stand (etc, pretty much everything else black, thank goodness I was able to compromise a different couch color!!!) Anyway, the existing carpeting is like a grayish blue color and the walls are white. I told him no more black but now I have no idea what to do about the area rug and curtains. I was also wondering if it is a good idea to have a matching area rug for the dining area? (The dining table is stained dark, but we got it used and until it can be refinished I am going to use a tablecloth to cover it, I have not purchased a table cloth yet. Do they make leather chair covers? We have a dining room set with black leather parson's chairs. My child bit one of the chairs and made a hole. We tried the leather repair kit and that didnt really work. Do they just make the chair cover? I mean the chair right now has a zipper like it comes off. How do I know if I broke my toe? I was walking to stubbed my small toe really hard into the dining room chair. It swelled and turned black and blue on the side of the toe and was painful, but was able to walk on it. Now, one week later, it is sore, but not painful and even the black and blue is gone, but it is still sore when I bend it, but it bends. How difficult is it to paint furniture? I have a light colored wood dining table and 6 chairs that I would like to paint black. I know that all pieces need to be sanded and primed before painting. And then you seal it. But this table has turned legs and other little nooks and crannies so I am thinking it may not be so easy to paint... I have never painted furniture before, is this a bad idea - should I just buy a new set? Or if I can DIY, what is better paint and brush or spray paint?

Leather chairs have rips in them? I just made the last payment on my $1400.00 leather chair and dining table set and my 2 year old son and cat have ruined 5 out of my 8 chairs!!! Decorating advice: mixing black & dark brown in olive green room? My living room / dining room walls are olive green, light tan sofa (with light tan pillows and two black pillows that I added recently), bamboo blinds, ecru curtains, oak hardwood floors. My large TV console/bookcase is espresso brown (black-brown), two chairs are black wood & espresso leather seats, and end tables are black metal and dark brown wood. It's pared down in the aspect of having very little clutter (photos, vases, trinkets, etc.) sitting around. It's all very earthy-looking and I like it. I want to paint my old coffee table, dining room table & buffet, but not sure if I should paint them espresso brown or black. Painting the tables and buffet espresso brown seems 'safer' than going with black. Am I just being a sissy about the black? Any suggestions?

What color dinnerware to get for these rooms? I need dinnerware (plates, bowls, etc) that can look equally good in 2 rooms: the kitchen (which has an island) and the dining room. The kitchen's colors are: aqua, amber/deep gold, and white. It also has some black accents. The dining room's colors are: Amber/deep gold and burgundy. How to paint/wallpaper LR/dining area? I live in a small 2 br apt with great lake and park views in chicago. My LR is combined with a dining nook. The room is 16 n. to s.x27 e.to w. The room is laid out as follows; front door and dining nook on the w. wall with a table for two, hall to kitchen to the right leading S. then the S. wall of the living room is about 15ft and completely filled with three book cases with a flat tv in the middle on wall w/ ent. systm under it. E. wall is a large patio door and focal point of the room with great views of the lake and park w/balcony. The N. wall has a msg. chair in black w/wood arms then my couch (big poufy in leather) and at the end of the wall a 3' side table. A love seat to match couch makes an L of the couch table area. The leather is a tan/tobacco color, not dark but not light, almost has an orng. hue to it. A small buttler coffee table sits in front of the seating. All wood is a redish brown, bookcs are the leaning open modern type. What color should I paint my family room? Room has black tables/armoir entertainment center with darker brown cloth sofas/chairs. Trim in family room is white. Fire place on one wall with floor to ceiling wood work in white surrounding it. Carpet is a light beige. Walls are currently a grey which is ok but doesn't look great. Want the color to fit well with rest of downstairs. Have an open floor plan. Adjoins the kitchen which is an earth tone/neutral purple wall paper. Foyer is a darker taupe and dining room is a darker sage (a creamy/khaki green). All kind of fitting into the earthtone/neutral family. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What colour accessories with black lounge & beige background? My lounge room has cream/ivory coloured walls, beige blinds and beige carpet and I have a black leather lounge, chocolate wood type furniture (but no coffee table yet) and glass/metal dining room table with white/metal chairs. I'm trying to work out a colour theme but not sure how to go about it. Was thinking red (or mixed red/white/black pattern) rug, red/white/green pillows for lounge, abstract artwork with these colours and maybe white or red lamp shades with white coffee table? Would like to create a modern look with some style. Any suggestions out there? Would really appreciate some good advice.

Need Dining Rm colors please! Have Wainscoting & Chair Rail. New house, 1st floor mainly earth tone colored.? My half bath will be yellow, can't do Red in the Dining Rm cause' my family member has it! Living Rm (brown, tan & black) opens into the Dining Rm. Keep in mind that my 2nd floor will have alot of bold & vibrant colors. Saw a nice dinnerware set that I'm considering Black, blue & dark beige stoneware but wont buy it cause' I don't think that color scheme will work. By the way, the entire 1st floor has Hardwood. HELP!

Ideas for Changing 80's Style Country Home to a Rich Tuscan or Mission Style on TIGHT Budget? House is currently 80's country. The woodwork is lt golden oak, white cabinetry & shiny hardware, shiny brass glass fixtures - my style is Tuscan, darker woods, marble, iron, rich earth tones. Mission also appeals to me, again, medium to dark woods, black iron, ect. I am repainting the entire interior - walls & ceilings - that's already in the budget & is top priority. I'm thinking a shade similar to latte but w/ a neutral to slightly warm cast to it due to the woodwork. I want to incorporate as much antique looking black accent as possible, I love the old look & I have a lot wrought iron decor pieces. For furniture, I'm thinking leather, classic medium brown leather sofa/chair, need to find a dining table that is that lt wood, hopefully with some black iron accents. The LR has a stone fireplace, though it's grey instead of tan which seems odd to me. Very tight budget - suggestions to incorporate my tastes into this home? Photos for ideas? What type of hardware would you suggest? Repainting the cabinets, as much as I would love to, isn't really practical right now. I can't afford to have them done and it's just not possible for me to do them myself at this point in time & have them look nice. What about window treatments? I'm a "less is more" person. I'd like matching iron hardware on all the windows but not sure what kind of curtains I want. There are bright white wooden blinds on the bedroom windows but not the living room/dining room. Privacy wise, I'm ok with sheers though ... Color suggestions? I also really like plants and am thinking some hanging drapping type plants in front of the large dining window (which faces back yard) would add a degree of privacy but not block too much light and view. I saw some pretty wroung iron hangning pots that were inexpensive. I just don't want to go overboard with the black.

Paint suggestions to paint kitchen cabinets white? Hi, I am planning on painting my kitchen cabinets white, but am unsure of what color white I should use. I hope to paint the walls a neutral off-white color also, but with sections under my chair-rail in the adjacent dining area and the soffet over my cabinets in sage. The trim will be bright white and I hope to eventually install an oak floor, tropical brown granite countertops, and I will be updating the cabinet hardware with satin nickel. I have thought about using Behr's Swiss Coffee on the cabinets for a color, but then I am not sure what to use on parts of the walls that will not be sage. For the person that asked about the curtains etc.. in the room, I am waiting to pick out all the accents and accessories until I have completed the bones of the room. Also, the cabinets are currently an off white or beige. In fact, the whole room is a beige, It's not a nice beige- more like a dirty cream color (cabinets, walls, trim, and ceilings). I think the cabinets are original (1956), but overall they are in good shape. I would love to buy new cabinets too (in a stained spice color), but expense wise, I'm thinking the re-finishing white is the way to go. I've seen some beautiful kitchen with the wite cabinets, wood floors, and granite counters.

Can you give me advice about how to decorate my new dining room? I have a new apartment and I need advice on decorating my dining room. I re-covered the chair with a black and ivory damask which I love. The brown chair in the corner needs to stay there but it doesn't go with my new color scheme of Black, Ivory and Sage Green. You can see the corner of my Sage green couch sticking out. For the most part i need help with the big blank wall and the color of the wing chair. Do you think a warm yellow would look nice?
