Black Dining Tables

What do you think of glass dining room tables?

I have a small dining room, so someone suggested I get a glass dining room table so it appears to take up less space. But someone else said that it is weird to be able to look at people's legs/feet through the glass while you are eating. Any ideas or opinions on this interior design case ?

  1. It depends on what kind of style/decor you have/want. I think they look cool/modern, especially if the legs are black iron. If you put a sheer or cloth tablecloth on top over the table, you won't see their feet/legs as much. For a REALLY fancy/formal table, I would still have the traditional wooden table.
  2. i think it would look good cos they're in i don't think it would look weird seeing peoples feet anyway because you aren't gonna sit and look at everyone's feet just because the tables glass, there will be other things keeping people occupied however, they're an absolute NIGHTMARE to clean and constantly have dirty marks on them so only get one if you are prepared to spend time cleaning it all the time
  3. I think they are pretty. Usually when you are eating you will have placemats or a table cloth or enough dishes, etc on the table that you don't really notice people's legs. Often the glass is a little bit frosted or textured too, which helps with the fingerprint issue - clear glass is hard to keep looking clean.
  4. I have a glass table, and it look's really nice and fancy... unless your company is really boring and all they do is stare at the table while eating then you won't have to worry about seeing each others feet
  5. I hate them! You have to clean them every day, they get fingerprints or dog boogers all over them (i clean my doors and windows everyday, i hate fingerprints and dog boogers) they sell small tables that aren't glass that would fit just fine. i typed in "Small Kitchen Tables" in the Yahoo! search engine and there are tons of cute ones.
  6. If you live in a tiny space, then Glass is perfect for you. It gives you the appearance of more room. Lets face it, how many dinners will you be serving, not every day for sure. So for the most part, the lighter look will be better. And when you do, have friends over for dinner, you can always use a colorful or bold color table cloth,. over it. Another good feature with a Glass Top, is it's so easy to clean using Windex, or some other glass cleaner.
  7. Yes, a glass top table is best for a small space. To prevent it from scratching use placemats or a table coth when dining. No! You will not be looking at legs and feet!
  8. They are hard to keep clean.
  9. Yes, I think it's discomforting to see the feet and floor. Also if you ever chip or crack the top, you will be in for a rude shock for what it takes to replace it ($300-600)
